Would it be after the Sullivan Brothers?
As a direct result of the Sullivans' deaths, the US War Department adopted the Sole Survivor Policy.
"The five Sullivan Brothers were lost when the ship to which all five were assigned, USS Juneau (CL-52) was sunk on 13 November 1942. Many memorial efforts have honored the five brothers. Since their loss much confusion has resulted from the many myths surrounding both the Sullivan brothers and the Navy's policy regarding family members serving together at sea."

it was called the Sole Survivor Policy aka the Sullivan act
The Sole Survivor Policy describes a set of regulations in the US military that are designed to protect members of a family from the draft or combat duty if they have already lost family members in military service. This does not protect children without siblings—only those who have already had an immediate family member killed in the line of duty. It furthermore does not apply strictly to the sole surviving son, but to all surviving sons. The need for regulations first caught public attention after the Sullivan brothers were all killed when the USS Juneau (CL-52) was sunk during World War II. Since then, each branch of the military has made its own policies with regard to separating immediate family members. A notable instance of the Sole Survivor Policy is the case of the Niland Brothers, where it was believed that all but one of them was killed in action.
the Niland Brothers was what saving privet Ryan was made after

i presume that you are alluding to the brothers sullivan who all died in a battle with the imperial japanese fleet off of guadalcanal when their light cruiser was sent out in a fighting convoy against heavy japanese cruisers and battleships into "iron bottom sound"!!from then on it was prohited by law to retain so many related persons on one ship or indeed in one theater of war on the chance that an entire family and courageous bloodline could be wiped out in one action or by misadventure!!a destroyer escort was named "the sullivans" in their honor !!!
