It could be. There's a valve at the engine that will let someone measure the pressure.

A fuel pump is one of those tricky devils that have the tendency to die rather fast. It's normally a filter or frozen fuel line that will cause such a problem. A bad Diaphragm pump (the jewel that gives an extra squirt of fuel to compensate for the instant demand for acceleration) are notorious for failure. You may also have a bad sensor that is not sending a signal to the computer. The computer monitors all engine functions, and makes the corrections for driving demands. Not to be vague, but there are many culprits under the hood that may be at fault. If you are in doubt, ask a mechanical friend to "read" your computer for the fault codes that are stored in the memory. A dealer would have the proper diagnostic tools( or as I said, a friend). That would be the first step to locate the problem fast.

To really know, you should have a professional take a look at it. The fuel system on your caddy is under high pressure. If you attempt to change the filter or mess around the shrader fitting in the fuel rail, you could get hurt.

Do yourself a favor and get it checked out. $85.00 check out charge could save you a lot of money if it ends up only being a vacuum problem. A lean run condition will also cause the same symptom as well as a bad throttle posistion sensor.

When it comes to fuel, be safe; let the other guy do it.

Usually a fuel pump just fails with no warning. Not always though. What you are describing could be fuel filter being plugged, or low fuel pressure, or even a failing catalytic converter.

No the first thing I would do is to change the fuel filter, then put in some Inj. or carb cleaner. Your fuel pump is in your tank, I would check that last, go with the cheapest first. If it is your pump, you`ll have to drop the tank if there are no access hole to it, which is really hard to change.

it could be the pump, or the injectors. If the car starts and idles fine, I would try changing the injectors, this is something you could do and not have to pay a garage alot to change. It could also be spark plugs or wires. Is it tripping the check engine light??? if not, I would go with the injectors first. If it was the plugs, the knock sensor should sense and miss-fire and turn the check engine light on.

I would look at the fuel filter first.

sounds more like your traction control is kicking in....... it allows very little power to the wheels so that you dont burn out.......that happens to alot of automatic cars..... but you might want to take it to a mecanic anyway, just to be safe.........
