It is possible if you allow the time it takes. From where you stand now, as a mortal living on Earth, you are a cockeyed optomist if you think you can do it overnight and don't think in terms of allowing about 700 to a thousand years of learning and effort and hard work to get there. Your first step is to get an Oahspe, and read it as many times as it takes to understand it (more than once I assure you). If you dont go the Oahspe route you can go the false religion route and allow a much longer preparation time, doing the same good deeds, and long preparation in heaven after long preparation on earth. . . and its harder but perfectly possible. Yes the mental discipline exists, starts on your earth time, and it becomes physical discipline and you should start while a mortal, once you find out what is entailed.

Sounds like you want a permanent out of body vacation ;-) There is a saying, "If you want to be a master, act like a master." That doesn't mean to proclaim you are god and grow a big head but to serve others and do what gods do. Throughout the history of this planet people have strived to move themselves further along the path as quickly as possibly. Though it tells us in the Bible that we are gods there is work to do in order to be able to achieve the abilities of a god. Someone mentioned discipline. This is a key factor, disciplining the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual bodies, refining your thoughts and actions and removing the debris of past karma are all steps to get you on your godly vacation sooner. The following is true:
1. You create you're own reality.
2. There is really only one being.
3. At night and between lives you "dream" non-physically.
4. During the day, and in life, you "dream" physically.
5. You, along with everyone else who comes to this realm, has forgotten this.
6. You can remember it, but it takes a lot of work--especially psychological work on yourself.
7. Remembering this is what you're really talking about.

It is not possible to literally become a god - and no, I am not using a specific religion to answer this - but you can slightly act like a god. Not all the choosing weather, being worshipped stuff. Do good to people who deserve it. Punish people under - and ONLY under - your authority if they need punishment, as long as the "bad deed" isn't considered bad just depending on your personal principles. (Doing the first suggestion is known to boost self esteem, so it may [not all all literally, though, lol] make you "feel like a god."

The sad truth is this: You can never become a god. Your need to be recognized and assert your self is just manifestation of your weakness as a plain human being. What you can do is work patiently and unselfishly for the good of mankind and all other creatures, in that way you become God-like. Peace be with you.

If you wish for truth then filter through the non-sense and open your mind. Now focus, pay close attention to what I shall write here. God, by any and all definitions is everywhere, but so many create concepts and theories of God and then those same individuals and/or groups and organizations feel the need to change their beliefs. Or in lamen's they grab the veritable "white-out" and make whatever changes they feel needed. In truth God is indeed everywhere...and that includes inside of each and everyone of us. If your intentions are balanced and your will strong you have but to look inward and awaken the God sleeping inside you, who is very undeniably you yourself.

Well, in my concept of live itself.
Our spirits are part of the planet. When we were born, the planet's spirit shared part of itself to our embryo, then we become life and can think, can do something more than our bodies can do. When we are dead, our spirit is freed and we go back to our mother earth. Taking our experiments, thoughts and feeling back to Gaia, the mother. And the circle go round and round again.
If you want to became immortal. Just sit and relax, do nothing. your spirit and the mother are one. you are her, and she is everyone. We, all the living things, are , or I should say , is, immortal already.
If you still don't understand. Go play Final Fantasy 7. The whole concept is in there. Just don't become maniac enough like the bad guy Sephiroth wanted to destroy the mother so that he himself to be a God.

What do you define as 'god'? perhaps you already are.
take a moment, look around, and ask yourself, "Is this the life I wanted?" If you answer yes, they you are well on your way to being in control of your life. if you answer no, then why isn't it going the way i expected.
first you have to understand that you are in control of all that happens to you, all of it. once you understand that, you don't need to be a god anymore.
