Okay, I just got a full GReddy cat-back system along with Hot Shot headers installed on my 01 Celica GT (installed professionally). All is well, except now there's kind of a burning smell polluting my car. Is it just the "new" burning off, or is this irregular? Any help is appreciated.

they're Hot Shot headers: $480

Don't worry, any headers or manifolds newly installed smoke and stink to high heaven ( somewhere between old socks and a pizza left in the oven over night) My advise would be to make a visual inspection for obvious problems (items in contact). Many times, "Mr. Goodpliers" will just have greasy hands, or will forget a rag under the hood. Most often though, its just the paint or protective coatings burning in.................

New pipes will smoke for a while, but it's not a bad idea to check. Headers pass a lot more heat than cast iron manifolds. Go over the whole installation, looking for places where the new exhaust comes close to the body work, or where lubricants might leak onto the pipes.

More than likely it is either the ceramic coating on the headers braking in or if you went with some less expensive headers, the high temp paint is burning off.

it may well be as you thought but get it checked out to make sure nothing else has been disturbed during the refit remember the temps involved at manifold as well as rear end tail temps ,worth having a good look by installers to put your mind at ease and not to claim after a fire.

look for anything touching the pipes. if you dont see anything anywhere (check under the hood and under the car), dont worry about it unless its still doing it a week or two from now. then just take it back to the shop that put it on and tell them.
