Firstly you give no indication what printer you have? The question is have you installed any new cartidges? If the printer is an all in one Lexmark the print head will be on the print cartridge itself, Never try to refill these yourself. Also be very carefull using remanufactured cartridges as these may shut your printer down completely and then it is only good for one thing the scrap heap.
If the ink cartridge goes into a carrier which has the print head in that, if it can be removed like most Canon printers, take the carrier out with the print head and imerse the carrier or print head in methylated spirits for 24 hours. After this remove the carrier/print head from the container, carefully wipe away any excess from the printhead, do not touch this with your fingers! use a lint free cloth. Make sure you remove all excess ink. Now reinstall this will usually help your problem. If it does not then suspect that the print head has developed a problem or some where else in the printer. Hope this helps or helps someone!

It is possible the print head may have gon bad.
At todays prices, it will probably be cheaper to replace the printer than to have it repaired. The print head in mine went bad, and they wanted $150 to fix it. I bought a new HP for $75, and it has the heads built into the ink cartridge, so every time I replace the cartridge, I'm replacing the heads. No more problems
