Foundation always looks terrible, like it just accentuates the dry spots. Any advice?

I have the same problem, and using moisturizers under my foundation just makes my skin feel and look oily. What I do is use a mild facial scrub. Oil of Olay makes those facial cloths that you just wet and they lather when you wash your face. I will use that at night to wash my make up off. They slush off the dry skin. They work well for me.

First you may want to see a dermatologist to make sure there is not an underlying issue or bacterial infection causing the dryness. Then as everyone has said...moisturize. Skin care is essential and you should cleanse, exfoliate and moisturize in the morning and before you go to bed. If you have super dry skin you may want to use an extra moisturzing cream as well. Make sure the moisturizer you use is alcohol free. Alcohol is in a lot of lotions moisturizers and that aids in drying out skin. If it is really dry, you'll need a cream rather than a lotion.

Mary Kay has a great line of products. Check out the Time Wise 3-in-1 cleanser and Age defying Moisturizer. Follow up with the Intense Moisturzing Cream in the excessively dry spots. You can find all of these on Ebay, just make sure that you dont pay more than retail price for them. Go to www.marykay.com and either find a local consultant and get some samples or take note of the retail prices and go on ebay. Most list the whole sale prices and use the shipping charge as their profit. Now I know im not supposed to suggest this, as I am a MK Consultant, but some people dont want to deal with a pushy consultant, so that is a way around it.

No matter what skin line you use, just make sure you cleanse, exfoliate and hydrate or moisturize. See a dermatologist to make sure its not actually excema or an underlying bacteria that you need treatment for.

You need to get some hydration into your skin before your makeup will ever look good. You can buy foundations that are better for dry skin, (Clinique has an anti-aging one but the name eludes me I"m sorry. And Revlon Age Defying for dry skin).

But to address your dry spots I would pay the money to get a decent exfoliator and moisturiser. You need to exfoliate to get the dry skin off so that your moisturiser can work more efficiently.

If you can afford it get a few products from a really good brand like Clarins. You will never look back and once your skin is healthier you'll find you can use any foundation with great results.

Good luck.

you really need to sort the problem before you put make up on. make up will not solve it. here is what i recommend.(and it's all cheap)
first get a good exfoliator lotion, preferably a medium one (one with more grains in it). or a pair of exfoliation gloves ( i recommend these more). if you use the gloves, get some silcocks base (from any chemist) and apply to your face and use circular motions to wash you face with it. don't scrub. when you have done your full face, rinse it and then moisturise with the silcocks base (it can be used for washing and moisturising and is very gentle but a deep emollient for dry skin). make sure you rub it right in to your whole face. when it has sunk in, put on your make up. i recommend miss sporty hydrating foundation. it leaves your skin very soft and is easy to blend in and match to your skin tone.
if you cannot find silcocks base, acqueous cream is basically exactly the same thing. it is only about 4euro or 3 pounds for a big tub.
by the way you need to do this everyday as your regular routine. and the reason silcocks is so much better than any other products that are specificaaly for your problem is that it is the most basic soap/emollient around - everything else has drying ingredients in them i find.

U need to take care of the dry skin first- use a moisturizer after u wash your face then apply your makeup. Try cetaphil, its non-comedegenic and works well for dry skin. Also, maybe you should look into a different foundation, one that doesn't add to the dryness of your skin.

Use moisturizers night and day get your skin in shape, the dry, flaky skin is the reason your make up likes bad. Unless your prefer something else Burts Bees is your best bet, use the night creme. morning daily moisturizers and they have a makeup that Jolie Angelina uses it is a tinted moisturizer in all shades. Wash your face at night with extra sensitive dole soap, splash cold water on your face it closes up the pores. Apply night moisturizer in the morning apply day most moisturizers and then your moisturizer make up. If you do this daily your skin will get to be like porcelain.
They sale Burts Bees on line at all places but Advantage Nutrition is the cheapest place. I had dry skin I have mine in great shape, just try for awhile and it will straighten your dry face up.

you can use foundation, just make sure that it has a moisturizer in it, and it will act kind of like a lotion does, it will moisten the flakes on your skin, and it wont be noticeable at all.

if you dont want to use the foundation, then just get a moisurizer to use, not everyone needs foundation. And also make sure that the face wash you are using has moisurizer, because thats the key when you have dry flakey skin.

Have a regular regimen that will target the problem of dryness. Don't just apply your moisturizer before your foundation. At night, take off your makeup with a good cleanser, tone, and moisturize before going to sleep. Exfoliate twice a week with a gentle exfoliant to get rid of the flakes. In the morning, moisturize right after you wash your face while your skin is still damp for optimum results. Lastly, drink plenty of water.

Hope it helps, good luck!!!

First use a face scrb while you are in the shower and when you get out apply lotion. It is very good when you put lotion on your face or body after a shower because all your pores are open and your lotion can get in better and moisterise your skin. And apply it before makeup too.
