You're not being racists or even xenophobic, you just like your culture the way it is and wish to preserve it, and you feel that it is being lost through all of the changes being allowed.
It's amazing how people will say that immigrants should be allowed to bring their culture with them and not have to embrace the culture of the country they immigrate to, but have little or no sympathy for those people native to a country wanting to retain their culture and continue to embrace it. That type of thinking is truly bigoted.

No, you would be a racist if you hated people of color. If you had a pretend sister, and she wanted to get married to a black or asian man, and you didn't want to have colored nieces or nephews, then you are a racist.
It was always the correct thing to identify with your race. But by the holocaust, the Nazis went overboard, and now all white people cannot identify with their race. The holocaust did happen, and it was a bad thing. But white people shouldn't have to deal with past mistakes as if it were their own personal doing.
Also, every Muslim out there in the world will join a war for Islam. The reason why is because if they don't, other Muslims will kill them. The Palestinians kill more Palestinians in one year the the Israelis did over ten years. But Palestinians don't report killings when it will be bad for their image. But white people don't do that. We are a civilized people, and we respect each other.
(LOOK UP HONOR KILLINGS!!!)
In the US, the Hispanics are doing the same as the Muslims are doing in the UK. I feel that it is my duty as a white American to stick up for white people's rights. However, I don't feel that we should deny the Hispanics basic rights. But never the right to be an American. If they want that honor, assimilate into our country.
(I suggest you watch American History X. It has some good points.)
White people should be proud of who they are. White people should not be proud of attempted genocide. White people, (and also everyone else) should realize that the Muslims are actively trying to force their beliefs on others. They are at war with us. Look at Sudan, Lebanon (which used to be a Christian country), Cyprus, Kashmir, Israel.
Also realize that these Muslims are being controlled by a very small elite. They are uneducated, and simply follow what their master dictators and Kings tell them to do. I don't like them at all, but I do know that they are victims too. No human deserves what the the sheiks and mullahs bring upon the masses in the Middle East. Jews and Muslims got along very well together for over a thousand years. It's not the religion, it's the people who choose to preach it in an ungodly way.
I know not everyone agrees with me, but I hope this is helpful to someone.

I can see your point of view, and while I don't think your racist I think you need to open up your mind a little bit. Our world is quickly globalizing, and immigration is a part of that. You can still maintain your culture while accepting other ones as well. If you chose (or were forced) to move to another country, would you give up your religion? Would you give up your culture? Some people do, but most people just strive to find an equilibrium between the culture they were born with and the culture they live in now. The city I'm from is 1/3 immigrants, and even more 2nd and 3rd generation people from all over the globe. When I see all the diversity around me it makes me feel modern and openminded.

I understand your wanting to keep your lifestyle the way it's always been. I believe if people inmigrate to a country they should adopt the ways of that country but it is also difficult to give up the native culture. The thing you see is that inmigrants feel about their culture the way you feel about yours so what to do? The government should put limits to how many people should come into the country?maybe too late for that, if the pattern holds true it is the second generation that will begin to assimilate and eventually join the mainstream. In the meantime learn to accept the changes by focusing on the good things the unfamiliar culture brings like food, music etc.

Jenny ... No, by definition, you are not a racist. A racist is one who believes one race of people to be inherently superior to another. You've not said that native UK people are superior and you've not said the immigrants are inferior, either.
That begs the question, might you be prejudiced? No, not RACIALLY prejudiced, either. By what you've said, you've merely expressed a preference for the way things used to be before so many cultural changes were introduced.
Now, some people who've answered, especially that first "nut case" answer by Diana, would disagree with me, but let's take a look and test these folks . . .
In many Asia- and Pacific Ocean-area countries, eating partially developed chicken, duck, and bird eggs is considered a delicacy. I mean the beak is formed, the feathers have begun to appear, and soft bones are already present. Could/would the others eat those eggs? Does it make one a racist to not like partially developed eggs?
Also, let's take Korea, for example, where the ENTIRE population enjoys that cabbage-based staple called "kimchee." Depending in how it's made, it can be especially smelly.
Now, I've not said even one thing about disliking these people. But if they lived in YOUR apartment building and the halls and lobby REEKED of these different odors that most non-Asians are not accustomed to, does it make you a bigot or a racist to twitch your nose and wish that you didn't have to endure these very odd-smelling dishes?
Come on, folks. I've not seen a gram of hatred in Jenny's self-description of her actions and attitudes.
By the way ... I see that Diana's answer has overwhelmingly and unanimously been voted down by those who can score answers and her hate-filled and vulgar answer is now hidden.
Good luck and continue trying to understand.

No it isn't racist to preserve UK culture, or Irish culture, or Scottish culture or any other culture from anywhere in the world. African, Hispanic, Oriental, Indian, American Indian, European, or Arabic, these regions have a multitude of cultures that are all wonderful, they came into being for a reason, and they should be preserved. You should be proud of your British heritage and should feel great about promoting the United Kingdom. It is possible to do that and not be racist.
But you should avoid hating others because of the race they belong to. That's racism. Racism is where an ethnic group of people tries to violently subjugate and crush any competition from other ethnic groups and tries to convince others and the world that they are the superior race. The racist group instigates violence and uses hatred and fear to promote their racism, leaving others to defend themselves.

no its not racist to want to preserve some part of your cultural identity, its a natrual reaction to change. However, your country will change, because it is racist to prevent such change - and the letter of the law does not allow resonable negotiation in such matters, but hands the majority of powers to the minorities. Thats why polarised groups like the BNP get a foot hold.

no its not racist, I am from mixed heritage/races and I agree with seeing culture preserved. That is your heritage, a mark of your ancestors and their struggles. I come from 4 major cultural backgrounds, I try to preserve all 4 of those to the best of my abilities. As will my children, hopefully. When they marry and have children of their own, regardless of their race I hope they will preserve their children's heritage as well.
But the first person to answer your question with the "white racist ***** remark, yeah.... she's a racist, chauvinst who does a serious discredit to her own race & gender.

Going through the same thing here in the USA. NO you are not a racist. Don't let anyone tell you that you are, you are not.
I don't know what to do about it, we will have to see what happens. Someday it will sort it self out. Keep the faith of your country, and good luck.

I don't think it's racist, and I can see where you'd want things to stay the same as what you grew up with. Change can be good, and interesting, but it's nice to have a comfort zone you can go home to.
