Does anyone know how to reconnect the display/earpiece and reconnect the ribbon to the base/mouthpiece of an LG VX6100 mobile phone?

Very carefully! It just slides into place and holding it all the way in there are two locking tabs on the sides of the plastic connector that the ribbon cable goes into that will lock the ribbon cable into place. Try turning on the phone and make sure everything works before putting it back together. Been there, done that.

My adventure with LG telephones has been very very undesirable, LG actual isn't stable at cellular telephones, i could say pass for a Nokia telephone such because of the fact the N81 or the N95 and you will definatley like it!
