Files are never really deleted when you do a simple delete.
They space is made available for use, and eventually over written..

The recycle bin, is just a holding bucket until your sure you really don't want it any more, then it's space is given up.

Think of the process as when you work at a desk.....you find a file you don't want so you get rid of it by tossing(deleting) it into the trash bucket beside your desk. It's been moved from being important to being trash. If later on you realize that that file was in fact NEEDED, you can still retrieve it from your trash bin(recycle bin) as the trash doesn't get emptied till the end of the week in the office. Oh so close from making an error but saved because it wasn't GONE yet.
When the recycle bin gets emptied, your file now has gone to the landfill. or the shredder. Lost it is. You are in more difficulty trying to get it back. Consider it lost.

So the recycle bin gives you a chance to really think about what you are tossing before you actually do.
And when it is emptied, it is basically erased.

When you 'delete' something and it is put in the recycle bin it is not deleted but moved to a file where it is not accessible by programs etc. When you empty the bin then you are 'deleting' the file (although an expert could still probably recover files) To completely delete any file it must be overwritten several times and there are apps available to do this.

The recycle bin is a safety net that enables you to restore the file should you find that deleting it causes problems

When you delete stuff, it simply moves it to the recycle bin. If you empty the recycle bin, it permanently deletes the files. No way of recovery. It's just in case you change your mind :).

Your recycle bin is like a temporary holding facility. Kinda like pergatory.. LOL. If you accidently deleted something and then later decide you want it again, you can go to the recycle bin and recover the file. Unless you emptied it...

The files are not deleted until you empty the trash. They're just moved to an area that will be automatically deleted if your trash gets too full.

There is a little bin in the back of your computer and you have to get a technician to empty it once a year

in the recycle bin, you can still restore the item, but it cant do anything from there...when you delete it, it is pretty much erased from the hard drive and very very hard to retrive...
