First set x=o. You now have -y=5 which yields y= -5. You now have a coordinate point (0,-5). Now set y=0 and you get 5x=5. Solve for x to get x=1. Now you have the point (1,0). Plot both points on a coordinate plane, then use a straight edge to draw a line through the two points. Now yow you have graphed the line using the intercepts.

when put in the form: y=mx+b. the equation becomes: y=5x-5. This puts the y-intercept at -5, and the slope (rise/run) is 5.

5x - y = 5
-y = -5x + 5
y = 5x - 5

0 = 5x - 5
5 = 5x
x = 1

y = 5(0) - 5
y = 0 - 5
y = -5

The intercepts are (1,0) and (0,-5)
