Red Lobster, TGI Friday's, Ruby Tuesday, and Applebee's are all pretty good American food places.
If you'd rather a non-chain restaurant, search online and (just put restaurants in "city you live in" in a search engine) you'll find the restaurants near where you live in and what people think of them, along with a website if they have one.

At which restaurant do I prefer to eat?
Of Red Lobster, Olive Garden, El Torito and Outback, I would have to say that Olive Garden has the best combination of price, selection, service and ambience with El Torito coming in a close second.
I don't like AppleBee's food selection.
Those are my only choices in my town.
Fast food? Wendy's for french fries and chicken parts. Jack In The Box for Cokes and curly fries. Carl's Jr. for their 6 dollar burger. Quiznos for their Steakhouse Beef Dip. I might have more to contribute later.

There are alot of good restaurants to eat at right now I like The Elephant Bar. Outback is good. Karuto's Japanese Restaurant in the OC is delic.....

It's hard to answer this because it depends on what YOU like to eat. The best restaurants tend to be the little mom-and-pop places.

The restaurant that I personally like is Ruby Tuesdays or 5 guys ( a burger joint).

In Nashville for Chinese eat at P.F. Changs. Great food! Great lettuce wraps! Also in Nashville for Indian eat at Sitars! Fantastic.

"Pappa Bros" Its pretty expensive, but its worth the money.
