I think it varies, but you could hope that it's that easy for you.

45 minutes. Talk about lucky!
I'm not sure if it runs in the family, time varies with the woman really, family or not. With my first it was 22 hours, second was 17, I'm on my third and I'm hoping it won't take that long but it's time well paid when you see your baby.
Maybe your mother was pushing for 45 minutes? there's different stages of labor, ones that are longer than others, but again it could be short for alot of women and long for others. As I said it varies, along with every other symtom, problem, worry and course of a pregnancy.

Though it really would be nice to have it last 45 minutes....

My mom had labors that lasted anywhere from 4-26 hours. My longest has been 6 hours. I think it varies from person to person... but you can hope you get that lucky. Good luck

I think it varies, my mother was in labor from 6 to 23 hrs with me and my brothers and sisters and all 5 of us were breeched. However I was in labor for 6hrs and my daughter was head down.

No, it doesn't. My mother's longest labor was 3 hours. She always went straight into hard labor when her water broke. Me on the other hand..my water has never broken on it's own (2 times being preg) and I never go into labor on my own, not even close to dialating at my due date, and I have to be induced and my first labor was 18 hours, and my second was 8. So it just depends on your body and if the baby wants to cooperate ;)

This is one of the things that does not have anything to do with genetics for once. My mom had long labors with both my brother and I and with my first from start to finish it was 10 hours. I am due again in late may early june and I am hoping for smooth sailing.

WOW, your mom is one fortunate lady!! I was a labor and delivery nurse for 8 years....no two women's deliveries were the same!! Collectively, l&d varies from pregnancy to pregnancy. Hopefully you will be like your mother though!

was she related to my mother? I don't know if it runs in families, but my grandmother and my mother both "spat out" their babies... felt no contractions, knew child was coming because water broke and were all under 45 minutes from time of water breaking to time of holding baby. However, neither of my mothers 2 sisters were so lucky... I'm due in July, I'm HOPING that it goes from youngest to youngest :)

Good Luck!
