The old SAT was out of 1600, but the new SAT is out of 2400 because of the new writing section. The new SAT is the one you will be taking since it was put into effect in March 2005.

Who told you it was 1400? I don't believe that it was ever 1400 (correct me if I'm wrong). 1600 used to be the highest score, but they decided to add a writing section, so now the highest score is 2400. (800 for critical reading, 800 for mathematics, and 800 for writing)

2400. The new score was imposed two years back because of the addition of a new writing section. The max scores in the verbal, math, and writing sections are each 800. 800x3=2400. Good luck!
