Socrates, Plato, Aristotle - Only from those three have the idea of democracy spread into the future western world. In the middle ages when the writings of Plato and Aristotle (Socrates was written about by Plato) resurfaced, it spawned a huge movement of higher education as well as a new idea of thought regarding life, government, thought, ect. Aristocracy was named after Aristotle, himself; his idea of the best form of government. The Greeks were also ahead of their time with weapon and armor development. They also invented an early form of napalm, which was called Greek Fire. Wikipedia can tell you more on it.
