Do any of you get hustled?

Scenario:

I work an hour and a half away from where I live, and I would have to drive through the city (DC) to get home. Anyhoo, traffic is nasty as usual, and cars backed up for miles. Finally I drove to a stoplight off of the highway and noticed a homeless guy dancing in the middle of the street and i thought this shyt was so funny that i threw some coins at him. 2 days later I noticed the same guy dancing. Doing the poplock and all these modern dances. Again i thought this was funny so i gave him 2 dollars. A few weeks later I saw this man counting a big a$$ wad of dollars and I was like ok this man has a hustle. But I would rather give him the money than someone who does ABSOLUTELY NOTHING but walk around with signs. At least he works for his meal by dancing. Do any of you get hustled like this? Do u have any stories?

I work in downtown Los Angeles so I encounter these poor souls every day. In all honesty, sometimes I do give them change or a dollar but more often than not I don't.

I once had a woman come up to ask for money for her kids...she gave me a story about being homeless. She didn't look homeless (she was groomed, decent clothes, carrying only a purse). I asked where her kids were and she just froze in front of me. I knew she was scamming me just because I was wearing a suit and tie.

It's unfortunate for the truly needy that they get the bums' rush because there are so many scam artists out there.

When I lived in the US, no I didn't give to the homeless. I was very skeptical of people... Instead I helped people I knew needed help and were too proud or embarrassed to ask. (They were usually people I had known for a long time and worked with, so I knew their true circumstances.)

Now that I live in Morocco, I do give to people on the streets, even if they are not homeless. There are no social programs here and people are truly suffering. I am careful who I give to though, and almost always give to the blind. They cannot work here, the government does nothing to help them, and they are helped only family.

In Southern California the big hustle is to wash your cars windshield when you come to a red light. When ever this has happened to me I give the person a card that reads. "I haven't any money to give: but I do swing a hammer for 'Habitat for Humanity. God Bless You.

I have known a few homeless people from working at a local deli.. I have given clothing, food, drinks and helping hand when I could.. I knew these things were being used or needed. I knew these people on a daily basis so I also knew if I gave them money it would be for booze or cigs.....so no money !

If he's asking, and you're giving, you're not being hustled! You know exactly what you're doing when you give him money. If he can boogie like crazy and have dinner then more power to him!

i feel better just giving them something to eat, because some of them will just drink it away, and then you have those lazy fakers that are not really homeless
