NO, NO, NO!!!!
THERE IS THIS CRAZY MISCONCEPTION THAT HE DIES IN EPISODE I!!! IN ACTUAL FACT, NO, HE DID NOT!!!! JUST BECAUSE HE DID NOT APPEAR IN THE NEXT FEW MOVIES DOES NOT MEAN HE DIED.
AND I HAVE A FEELING THAT YOU TOO ALSO KNOW THAT HE DID NOT DIE, IF NOT YOU WOULDN'T ASK THIS QUESTION.
IN ONE OF THE COMICS AFTER THE SAGA, THEY PORTRAYED DARTH MAUL AS HE PREVIOUSLY WAS, BUT WITHOUT THE BOTTOM HALF OF HIS BODY AND WITH SOME ROBOTIC CRABLIKE LIMBS.
SO CAN EVERYONE OUT THERE WHO THINKS DARTH MAUL DIED IN EPIDODE I STOP AND LISTEN... HE DID NOT ACTUALLY DIE!!!!! DO YOU HEAR ME???!!! HE DID NOT DIE!!!!!...

It depends on how into star wars you are. I happen to be an avid fan, and if you pay attention to the expanded universe stories, Darth Maul does not die in the movie...sort of. According to the EU, off screen between movies 1 and 2, Darth Sideous revives Maul at the bottom of the pit. Sideous develops a slow way to bring him back to life, but in the meantime he makes a hologram of him. Obi-Wan eventually kills the hologram. When Darth Maul is eventually brought back to life, he searches for Obi-Wan. By this point, around episode 3/4, Maul finds his way to Lars' and Beru's home. Realizing that Maul is a threat to baby Luke, Lars shoots the unsuspecting Maul, killing him for good.
And BTW Boba Fett does not die in the sarlacc, however that is a story for another question.

The canonical answer to the question is yes; Darth Maul did die by Obi Wan's hand in Episode 1. However, as depicted in "Resurrection" in the 2001 publication of Star Wars Tales #9, a dark side splinter group called the Prophets of the Dark Side managed to resurrect Darth Maul, who goes on to battle Darth Vader and is killed by him. This however, is seen as non-canonical and is seen as a "what If?" storyline.

It depends on what storyline you follow. If you go by the movies or novelizations of the movies (both of which are the only offical components of the Star Wars Universe), yes I believe he died. If you follow the expanded universe (comics, books, etc.) , in Star Wars Visionaries (comic) in the story called Old Wounds, Maul returns to Tattoine to kill Obi-Wan. And he does have a cybernetic lower half. Owen actually is the one who kills Maul in the end.

The other people have posted good links for pictures of Keira as Padme. Although attractive, I still find Natalie Portman more attractive than Keira Knightley. Natalie has softer facial lines, while Keira is more chiseled.

Cm'on, if u watched the movei u could plainly c him being cut in half! In the movies he does of course, but in expanded universe, like the comics, Sith Wariors bring him back to life.

Yoda said, "always two there are, a Master and an Apprentice". Darth Sideous would not have had to replace him if he wasn't dead.

Well...let's think about this;
He gets sliced by a lightsaber across the middle
He falls in not one but two pieces...
SO YEAH HE DOES DIE!

It sure seems like it. I mean, there is a spray of blood, and he falls in 2 down a really deep shaft.
