I have just bought the motherboard MSI P4M980M-L

http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/mainboard/mbd/pro_mbd_detail.php?UID=757

according to the info on the link above, it says that it supports DDR2 533/400.
However, my big question is this... I have 2 DDR400 512mb each. But I'm not quite sure installing them already. Because as I've said: it supports DDR2 533/400. but I dont know what exactly does that mean... the motherboard supports DDR2 400 or it can also support DDR400????

I asked this before but no one could help me. Help please!!!!

No, DDR and DDR2 are not the same. You need DDR2 if that is what it supports.

DDR and DDR2 ram are 2 different types of ram and they are install in different type of slot. Some motherboards have slots for both DDR and DDR2, while others can only support one type. Download the manual from msi and check the motherboard specs again to see if it can also support DDR. If it does not, you have 2 choices : you can keep motherboard and get the DDR2 ram or you can return it and get a motherboard that can support both.

DDR and DDR2 are different sizes and technologies, hence they will not work with each other. The board takes DDR2, so your DDR will not work in it.
