done in Iraq? I'm told by another answerer that there are only TWO companies who do the work Halliburton does. I find this rather difficult to believe! Considering all of the waste and fraud Halliburton has been credited with, are we to believe that there were absolutely NO OTHER companies who could do what Halliburton can?

GW Bush being elected president has turned out to be a real cash cow for Halliburton. I mean the war in Iraq has being pretty profitable for the company. I would like to know what other contractors submitted bids, and what reasons were given for nearly all the contracts being given to Halliburton exclusively. Anyone want to take a shot at answering this one?

Good question!
Thanks to **** Cheny, I heard that Halliburton was given the Iraqi
contract and it wasn't even put out for bid. Another big company
that could have done the job was Brown & Root from Texas, but they now work FOR Halliburton.
Halliburton paid[off] Cheny Big bucks when he left the company..
And guess what ? I also heard that Halliburton was `given' the contract to re-build Iraq even before we invaded it. Go figure.

That's about to come to a quick end.

The republican criminal congress that was kicked to the curb in November was content to let Halliburton rob the treasury blind. The Democrats are going to audit Halliburton and Cheney's little looting party will be all over.

Yes Halliburton is in bed with our government and has taken advantage of tax payers for generations. The government simply just does not consider other companies for many of Halliburton's contracts.

Halliburton and Bechtel are the only ones in the U.S. that have the logistics and engineering capabilities to meet the requirements for this type of operations.

But what they also do, is to hire smaller companies and individuals as their sub-contractors.

This why the Soviet Empire couldn't compete with the Reagan in the '80s. Free market is more effective and cheaper than the government.
