It's my understanding that every baby develops at the same rate in the early stages. This is why their early calculations on estimating a due date is best done before 10-12 weeks. Could it be possible you just ovulated a little later?

The baby will most likely be fine. I smoked for the first 4 weeks of my pregnancy, simply because I did not know I was preggers, yet. Just please tell me you have quit or are lightening up your load. This is important for your baby as it still has a lot to grow, and the crucial period for tobacco damage is not yet over at 9 weeks. But just be healthy, don't smoke, drink (esp not in the 1st Trimester), and don't eat all the yummy foods we pregnant gals have restricted like queso dip, sushi, and caffienated drinks. I had my very first ultrasound today at 7 weeks and the nurse reported my baby is exactly where it should be, lengthwise and has a healthy heartbeat of 158. Good luck:)

Well doctors will tell you smoking is bad for the baby and yes it is but I smoked my whole 9 months of pregnancy and my little girl was fine, my doctor told me that quiting at half way through the pregnancy would put the baby into withdraw and would not be good for the stress of the baby. Maybe I was lucky but she came out 18" long and weight was 6 pounds and 12 ounces which is normal in our family we all had small babys and not all the women of my family smoked! hope that helps

Before any of you thumbs me down read all... Ist my friend smoked 3 to 8 a day and had a healthy boy and everyone that I use to work when I worked at a factory smoked in all their pregnancies and were all ok!!!!!! 2ND I never did!!!! I quit!!!!! 3rd. Some people were not trying to conceive, so I could see why people did not quit something, when they did not know they were pregnant!!!! Dr.s say quit asap!!! My dr. never told me the baby would die if you smoked before knowing you were pregnant! So do not worry! If you were to loose it, it probably would have happened anyway! I had a miscarriage and did everything perfect! Then, as I mentioned, I know women who broke the rules and had perfect babies!!!! So quit now and do not worry about the first few weeks, you can not change that anyway!!!!!! I repeat, I do not beleive in smoking while pregnant, I just know of many who did!!!!!!!

look i know this answer will make me unpopular, but i smoked throughout my first pregnancy, my son was born on time, at 8lbs 3oz. he has not had a day sickness in his life, is big for his age, chubby and perfectly healthy. i did cut down from a pack to 10 a day, as that was what was recommended by my doc if i could not quit. my son was never too small, and there were no complications or worries.i have never heard of a woman experiencing birth complications from smoking and many many women i know smoked more than me whilst pregnant. if ure babe is small u may have your dates wrong, or ovulated late. i really dont believe all this propaganda about maternal smoking. it has been done for thousands of years and kids are still popping out all ok!

I have smoked with all my kids. I know i know BAD. However thank God all my kids are totally fine. no problems AT ALL. My son was 8lbs 4.3 oz and my daughter was 7lbs 1oz. My friend just had a baby Jan 24th and smoked and hers was 10lbs. My doc also said quitting now would cause withdrawls and that isnt to good. What do u do? I dont know. 1 cigg is as bad all the whole pack.

The baby can recover from the affects of smoking in the first trimester, so if it is measuring smll now it will grow better from here on out as long as you have stopped smoking

Hold off the smoking for at least nine months. You don't want a baby with a weird disease or a poor circulatory system.
