The price of copper as with most metals i.e. brass, lead etc. fluctuates sometimes daily, so your best option is to contact a scrap metal dealer (yellow pages) to get the current price, try a few to get the best quote

Not sure, but i imagine you would have gotten a better price for the copper 6-12 months ago as the LME price has started to fall lately.

It's hardly worth anything scrap these days. Even by the ton.
Not worth the hastle of collecting and selling.
Companies now have the option of using superior mix metal compounds that are a lot cheaper. No one buys any more.
