Halkidiki has the best beaches in Greece. It is located in the Macedonia region in northern Greece and it has the shape of three ''legs'' . First ''leg'' is more touristic , great beaches , thousands of clubs, bars, nightlife till the morning.Second leg is absolutely breathing scenery, a campers paradise, less tourists.Third leg is the famous mount of Athos,an autonomous area, with monasteries. It also has some nice cities right before it and some tiny islands.
In total Halkidiki is highly recommended whatever your moods are.

I stayed in Halkidiki for a week and it was a really nice time. It didn't seem to have the hoards of Europeans but a lot more Greek tourists so that was nice. I'm trying to remember where I stayed...it was somewhere south of Cassandra on the coast. The mountains are pretty and there are traditional villages. The sand was very white on the beach. I don't remember it being very expensive.

Definitely, but I think it depends on your location in Halkidiki. We went to Pefkori and has a superb time, but this was mainly due to there were only one or two British tourists there.
