RE:
Are Swiffer WetJets safe with pets?
Just recently, I purchased a Swiffer WetJet. Before I have even gotten to use it I hear rumors that it can kill small pets. Proctor and Gamble's website states it is safe, but I want to see if anyone has any other information on this.

Rumors may have a grain of truth in them. But be aware that using Swiffer WetJet is safe to use around pets, as long as you are careful about the product around them, just as you would be with any cleaning product.
Supervision would be necessary so they don't drink it, etc., however, it is safe for use in households with pets. I use snopes.com as a resource to find out what is true and what is false.
There are no class actions against WetJet's parent company, which would have happened if the product was a danger.

When the wetjet first came out it did have reports of killing animals, some even tried to sue. However they won cause the owners did not let the product completely dry before letting their animals walk on the floors that were cleaned. Any cleaner can be dangerous (other than vinegar and water) to any animal. I use a wetjet to clean my floors and have never had a problem, but I let my floors completely dry first too! Wetjet even changed their formula a bit afterwards so it's all resolved. Don't worry, just take precaution to let it dry fully before your animal walks on the floors and if you are really conserned empty the bottle and fill it with vinegar and water...that way you can still use your wetjet and you never have to buy the replacment bottles...just keep refilling with vinegar and water and clean as a wistle!

This was a bad e-mail rumor that spread around. Check out Snopes.com for this myth. They have lots of links to vets and other very credible people about this one. Rest assured. It is safe.
Here is the link to snopes: http://www.snopes.com/critters/crusader/swiffer.asp
ASPCA's response to it as well

Proctor and gamble also has research on their website showing its safe. They do recommend it to dry before anyone comes in contact. Also there hasn't been a single lawsuit brought against them as best I can find.

I've heard that was an urban legend. I certainly hope it's not true. I just mopped today with Swiffer.

I use the Swiffer Wet Jet and have not had any problems...I have dogs and cats, including a new puppy. The dogs have picked up food scraps off of the floor & have not shown any effects of sickness.

FALSE !!!! Just make sure you let the floors dry....pets will be fine ! We have all heard the rumor that the swiffer cleaner is only one molecule different from antifreeze....but guess what....margarine is supposed to be only one molecule different from plastic....and we ALL eat it with no ill effects. One molecule can make all the difference in the WORLD ! ( if you listen to those kind of stories anyway )
