U will thank your mom in the end. lacrosse is the best sport ever.

Dont listen to people talking about indoor lacrosse, because that's mens, which has entierly different rules.

In womens lax (lacrosse) we wear an eyemask, and mouthguard. We play with a lacrosse stick with a small pocket, unlike a guys stick that has a big one.
heres a pic of a lax player

THats a link to us lacrosse which has like all the rules.

We cant hit eachother with our sticks unlike mens lacrosse, but we are allowed to check (hit) eachothers stick.

I dont know if you play by high school rules or youth, but if you play by youth, they you cant check the opponets stick if it's above their head. In high school you can. However, you can't check up or in the direction of the face, and cant raise your stick high and birng it down to check wildly.

the positions are:
1st 2nd adn 3rd home (like forwards in soccer)
2 d-wings (defense) they are like middies, but only 1 goes over the restraining line to play attack
1 center - goes every where and takes the draw (like a faceoff)
2 a wings - middies, only 1 plays d
point, cover point and 3rd man play defense

its a lot to learn, but once u pick up the basics its so fun. u will love it. Good luck!

I don't know much about girls Lax but i do know that its a great game (I play HS boys Lax) and when people r talking about Box (indoor) lacrosse they dont know what they r talking about it is a diff sport than field lacrosse

I will just let u know a couple of thing 1st lax is the best sport on the planet 2nd Ozer was right in every thing she said 3rd the biggest worry i know of people having when they start to play is not being able to catch dont worry though that will come

then finally on a personal note u should buy all Debeer stuff for 3 reasons 1 the USA Girls Lax Team uses it 2 Debeer is the leading supplier of girls lax stuff in the world and 3 my Lax coach strings all of the Debeer Lax sticks

Oh, my! That wasn't super nice of your mom, I have to say.

LaCrosse is a pretty fun game. I have only seen the indoor version, though, and I know that outdoors, the field is much larger, and the rules on timing are a bit different (for example, I don't think the 30-second shot clock applies in the outdoor version).

At any rate, the field and players are laid out much like soccer or hockey...There are forwards, guards, and a goalie. The goalie (lucky!) gets extra padding.

Each player has a stick (about as long as a hockey stick, perhaps), that has a net at the end of it. The point of the game is to use the sticks to pass the ball across the field, and throw it into the opposing team's goal.

In the indoor, professional version that I have seen, it is apparently okay to use your stick to hit the person who has possession of the ball...Hopefully, in a youth league, this is at least limited!

Here's a link that might help you out.
