None really except a string is a thinner thong.

G-strings are slightly thinner and "breathe" more, which is why Bach wrote "Air on a G string".
A thong is thomthing that thomeone with a lithp things.

g string has been around for decades, worn mostly by hookers and strippers. thong has only been around a few years, a tiny bit wider and worn mainly by 15 year old girls and women too fat for them.
