Please don't worry. It's could to hear that you are already a good mother, though, and are thinking about your baby's welfare. Smoking isn't good for mother or baby, but, if you have stopped, there's no big problem. Trust me. Take good care of yourself. RN.

One thing you should do is stop smoking right not to better your chances of a healthy child. No it wont affect the size of the fetus if you stop now but if you do smoking can cause major birth defects such as low birth weight blindness congenital heart defects under developed lungs etc. So the sooner you stop the better your chances will be Talk to your OBGYN about things that are designed to help you stop smoking without harming the baby

I know it is bad to smoke while you are pregnant. I am 39 1/2 weeks and still smoke.( I have tried to quit but end up smoking more)
At 34 weeks we had a ultrasound done and the baby weighed 7 1/2lbs.
My mother and mother in law smoked with all of there kids and they all weighed over 8 lbs. and healthy..
Its hard to tell. But my best advice to you is if you can quit then please do.

Hopefully not, but that's a question you need to ask your doctor as it's not the same for everyone. If you are still pregnant, I hope that you have stopped smoking as most of the baby's body and organs grow after the first 8 weeks of gestation, in the second and third trimester I believe.

I feel bad about it but yes I smoked throughout both my pregnancies, and I got lucky with both my pregnancies. They were both healthy. My first was 7 lbs. 7 oz., and my second was 8 lbs. even. No Problems, but the truth is, I know it's hard to quit smoking, but it is dangerous to smoke while pregnant. I guess I was just one of those lucky ones.

Are you nuts?!?!?!? I don't care how many people tell you that they smoked throughout their pregnancy and everything turned out fine.....they were the lucky ones......you are taking a risk. What if you were one of the unlucky ones and something happened to your baby as a result of your smoking? You would feel awful wouldn't you? Just don't do it! Its crazy

I think your baby will be okay. Please think about quiting. You dont want to do anything to harm your baby. Second-hand smoke kills. It is one thing to harm your body, but your baby cant stand up for him/her self. Only selfish people think of themselves before of others. Just think about what if you continue and something is wrong with your baby, you dont want to take that chance. Smoking is very harmful to your baby when you are breastfeeding so for your baby's sake and your own, please stop now. Good Luck!
