I know that legally I don't have to tell that I am pregnant but I feel that is being dishonest. I am two months pregnant and not really showing but I don't want to start a new job on the wrong foot. I know that I wouldn't be happy if I just hired someone and they were going to need several months off after only working for 7 months.

I quit my job of 15 years when I was pregnant to move across the country with my husband...I applied for a similar job. I told them I was pregnant and due in 5 months at the interview. I got the job anyway. I did think that if I told them I'd not get the job, but I wanted to be honest.

But, my advice is if you are only 2 months pregnant, I'd probably wait to see if I got the job before telling them. Then if they call to hire you, just tell them right then. If they are a company worth working for, they will work with you.

I wouldn't. Once I was in an interview for a job as a dental assistant. I was about six month pregnant, but you couldn't really tell. I mentioned it and I didn't get the job. They started telling me all sorts of things that could happen. Their is a woman at my job now who just had a baby, and she started working in August. Do the math. I didn't know she was pregnant until last month. She will be coming back next month. Worked in her favor. Might work for you.

If you tell them you are, you won't get the job. Unfortunately we women must face these issues - and it's not dishonest if you don't disclose this. It's illegal for them to ask you if you're married, your age or pregnant.

So, if you really need and want this job - do not disclose this personal information -- it's also not professional to. You always want to sell yourself in an interview, not give them reasons to skip over you.

Good luck and congrats.

Traditionally, a mom-to-be doesnt tell anyone about a pregnancy until the 2nd trimester, when most of the risk of miscarriage (and disappointment) has passed. This includes your employer.

Oh my god, no. If they call you and want to hire you, then you should in all fairness tell them, but not before. I guess it's just like your social security number!

honesty counts. yes. be up front with them and also
about whether you plan to continue working after the
baby comes. whether you tell them or not, their
insurance will probably not cover delivery. and you
will probably not qualify for maternity leave with pay.
