What really helps me is scheduling. I have a desk pad and I schedule my reading ahead each day. So everyday, I look at my schedule and know what i need to read today.

Well aside from reading, taking good notes, listening to your teachers, and allowing time to complete homework, there is a great trick that was successful for me when I had a test coming up.

Make an anacronym out of a definition or out of several terms you need to remember. An anacronym example is ASAP, which stands for As Soon As Possible. So if you need to remember the past 4 violent rulers of Scotland (which I don't actually know), and their names are John the Angry, George the Mad, Eric the Violent, and Henry the 8th, just remember JGEH. You're mind should fill in the blanks if you've at least read over your notes a few times.

if your teacher has you write notes, keep them in the same place or in a single notebook so you can keep track of them to study for the test. i also find it helpful to, for classes like math or classes with "problems" you have to do in the book, to do some of the extra problems while studying for a test coming up. try really hard to pay attention in class and ask questions if you have them. in a writing class, start a paper or essay early: don't procrastinate! that's the hardest thing for me, but just plan out when you're going to do what, and you shouldn't have a problem. good luck!

Studying is tough. You should study by memorizing your notes taken in class. Also a very good way to memorize words is to teach it to someone else. You can use your dog, friend, or other humans. Also flash cards are an easy way to learn and test yourself.
