according to "Mosby's drug guide for nurses, 6th edition", it may block pain receptors that occur in responce to inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis. the antipyretic (heat reducing) action results from the inhibition of prostaglandins in the central nervous sysem, which contains the hypothalamic heat-regulating center.
