This isnt a good idea if you plan to breast feed because the first few days after birth are where the baby gets the most nutrition I dont remember what its called but they need this to help there immune system and if you start pumping it could cause you to loose this early and the baby wont get it when he/she does come. If you are dead set on labor go walk around walmart for a few hours or the mall or just walk in general this will help naturally induce labor, but before you do so make sure you are really 38 wks and not earlier because the DR's dates can be off if the child is small for age or larger than normal for age

I'm due Monday and have been having the worst time so I tried pumping a few times a day for an hour or so each time and I've been doing that for a week and NOTHING. It may or may not work. I've heard of some women doing this and going into labor quickly (but then again it could just be coincidence) and for some it doesn't work.

My baby was born at 37 weeks, and as a result, a baby who would have been over six lbs was only 5 lbs 13 oz. Your baby may need another 2 or even 3 weeks (one week late is common) to finish maturing and get to a good birth weight.
For the rest of your life there will be times you will have to do what is right for your child rather than what is right for you - why not start now, and let your little one arrive in his/her own time.

It's safe but it won't work until your baby is ready. Which at 38 weeks they likely aren't.
Why are you risking having a premature baby? Due dates are only estimates and your baby knows when your baby is ready.

I'm assuming you mean pumping your breasts.
It could release oxytocin, but generally levels too low to do anygood. It would waste anything that came out and will in general just give you sore nipples.
Your body knows when it is time, you have two weeks to go, don't rush it.

Just stay pregnant as you are. You do not want to force the baby out. It could be very dangerous. Your baby is in the safest place it can be. Trust your doctor.

I tried this at 38 weeks and it didn't work. But luckily my doctor let me induce the week after....ask if he/she will set an induction date. There are several factors they'll look at before deciding though. Good luck. You're almost done!!

You're not even 38 weeks yet? Start worrying about forcing labor when you're overdue.
