I did an affidavit at a lawyers office , by her para-legal, is it legal? It concerns a house in Puerto Rico, I being the eldest am renouncing my part and giving it to my fathers [who passed in 2001] wife. She says is not legal, I paid $250.00 dollars to get it done , all it has is the paralegals signature and paper from with the lawyers name. How do I find out if is legal?

It's "legal", but it doesn't have the full effect of conveying your interest in the property, there's more to it then that. I would need to know more facts (like was there further actions being taken by the law office), or was the affidavit to be used by you for use at the county/city recorders office to transfer your interest. Sorry, not much more with these facts.

Unfortunatly, you have to contact ANOTHER attorney in your State that can help you. What it sounds like to me is that you were scammed by the attorneys office!! You may have to sue for your $ back
