Obama is not a muslim. He is a christian, those are myths you have been told. However, Muslims can run for president if they want but who will vote for them?

1. Barack was born in Hawaii, he is an American. But yes you have to be born in America to run for president. And Muslims are born in America, not all of them are foreigners.
2. Barack IS NOT A MUSLIM, he is a Christian; you have been misled by baseless internet rumours. Hilary never said he was a Muslim either, only those who wish to defame Obama would want you to believe this. This all just some cheap attempt to get voters to not vote for him.
3.No religious test is required to run for office, you can be of any faith and run for any office in the U.S. Govt.
4. Presidents are bound to obey the Constitution, even if Osama bin Laden was elected president, he could not make America an Islamic theocracy. The office of president does not come with the power to change laws at will.

Well, if the First Amendment says anything, and of what I know of the qualifications a person has to fulfill in order to be President, then yes, a Muslim can be President. From what I can get from your question, you're referring to Obama. I don't believe that he is actually Muslim (his father was one but now isn't and his mom... IDK.). In fact, I thnk he's Christian. However, it would probably take a few decades for a Muslim to be President (or Vice-President. Senator... probaly sooner). However, I hope that when we do, President "Ali" (or you can insert some other generic Muslim last name) will not be a theocrat. In other words, I'm sure the U.S. will not become anythng like Iraq (at least I hope so).

Muslims can run for President, as long as they were born in the United States and are naturalized citizens (i.e. they did not renounce their citizenship)

America will never be like Iraq or Afghanistan under the Taliban, at least not with our current constitution.

No Muslim is in an position to make a serious run for the Presidency, anyway. If they were, they would not be a radical Muslim and would be an American, just like you or me.

So don't worry about it.

Americans born here can run for President
Religion doesn't matter
Color doesn't matter
Sex doesn't matter
Just Natural Born Americans
I have a lot against Muslims and Islam followers, but they could run for President anyway

There are no restrictions as to which religion you must (or cannot) belong to to be President. Anyone who was born in the United States, and is at least 35 years of age can legally be President if elected.

Barack Obama was raised Muslim, but says he converted to Christianity just before running for his US Senate seat. There would be no way that he could turn the US into a theocracy like Iran. Iraq is now a democracy, and the burquas are not required to be worn.

A persons religion cannot keep them from running for the presidency. And if a Muslim is elected women will NOT have to cover their hair and men will NOT be able to beat their wives. That is an ignorant statement.

P.S Southern Democrats answer is PERFECT!

There is a muslim running for President right now. According to Hillary, Obama is a muslim.

nothing and i mean nothing against you, but you are obviously too young to be asking these type of questions if you dont know the difference in many of these things you asked. dont listen to everything your mommy tells you, because she isnt very in tune to whats going on in the world. first of all, obama is not muslim, never has been muslim, never will be muslim. he is a member of the united church of christ since the early 1980s. secondly, not all muslims were not born in this country. muhammad ali (the boxer) was muslim, born in america. islam is a religion, not a nationality. same reason an american can be jewish, or hindu, or anything else. third, its spelled iraq, and no, america will never ever be like iraq. finally, yes, a muslim could run for president. the constitution of the united states specifically states that "no religious Test shall ever be required as Qualification" for a federal job. this means that nobody should have to be a certain religion to be president, or congressman, or anything else. its called separation of church and state. religion should never be an influence in government.

p.s. J.R. is lying. obama was never raised muslim, and he didnt convert to christianity to run for office. thats a bunch of crap. he has been a christian forever, never worshipped allah, and never practiced terrorism.

No one can run for president unless they are a citizen of this country by birth (regardless of where that birth took place). There are no religious restrictions of any kind - nor should there be.
