It would work like finanacial aid for college. This way every one could have private health care insurance instead of employers having to provide it. Everyone could be insured. Most important of all it would not be socialized .

I want to add a note. I believe that if everyone was responible for finding their own health insurance, it would open up compitition and help reduce premiums.

Bush proposed a tax deduction for premiums. That still would not help those who are unemployed, work part time or otherwise cant afford or obtain health insurance short of going on welfare and medicaid. I believe this idea would help eliminate that situation

The government does provide health care assistance. Most of it is handled at the state level and is supposedly taken from funds paid in a huge tobbacco company settlement with the states. In Alaska, all citizens have health care through the state, funded by the federal government for the Alaskan pipeline (The oil thing that doesn't work right now).
All senators and represntatives have health care through the government, as does tha president and the vice president and they all retain these benefits after they leave office.
Ex-service men and women are elligible for health care through the Veteran's Administartion, which is rated as one of the most efficient health care systems in the world.
When the government regulates health care and subsidizes health care, it is socialized. This is not a bad thing however and wherever healthcare is socialized, it is more efficient and cheaper than any private plan out there.

Look, Bush, Cheney and Wolfowitz are way too busy trying to kill people in the middle east to worry about Americans. Plus they need the billions of bucks to waste on this never ending war.

We already can't balance a budget and are way over debt. Where is this money coming from????? Everyone would like the benefit but no one considers there has to be a source to finance a program!

Hmmmmmmmm, didn't Bush just propose that very thing in his state of union address.

Didn't the democrat party say the idea is dead on arrival.
