first off would be that movies get released @ different times in different places, so they wait till its officially out everywhere, next they have to add in the bonus content thats not from the movies, and finally its a marketing strategy

It usually takes 3 months after it leaves the theaters to be on dvd.

Because they want people to see it in the theaters. If they released it on DVD right away nobody would pay $10 per ticket to see it in a theater.

It seems like the company putting the movie out always tries to wait for a holiday or special time to put it out... (ex: Horror movies around Halloween). Plus I am sure it takes a while to get all of the extra content together.

The more the movie becomes popular and on demand the more time it will take to make copies and put them on DVD's for the first shipment cycle to hit the shelves.
