People were able to tell time by the position of the sun. If the sun is directly above you, it is 12 noon. Then society invented the sundial, which read the sun's position for them. It's just another thing that makes our lives easier and us more lazy.

I think people know its time for bed , and time to get up , due to nightfall and sunshine. the moon probably went full moon , part moon , half moon etc , also the tide of the sea , indicates time also. also seasonal months , they probably recognised winter , summer , spring , autumn through the nature , so time was probably tracked this way before the clock came. also the postion of the sunshine during the summer months probably was also a indicator .

properly me stupid head concept went returned then realised interior the wee hours they went forward so this am up late and shattered.
