slide off the seat? all rubbish. horse saddles are also waxed!
if the seat is real leather, then keep waxing it. leather needs good care.
I have been using the same wax for about two years now and i am very satisfied. used it on my shadow, vulcan, bsa and even on my leather saddle bags. its very good stuff. I also apply it on my chrome work after polishing, as extra protection against seaside wind.

If you want the bike to take off without you, go ahead and keep waxing the seat.

I would not do anything but wash the seat, you don't want to be sliding when you don't want to
