has anyone ever experienced being at 'ground zero' in a tornado, and what was it like?

i havent been in the path of 1 yet, but i have been within a couple of miles of 1. even at this distance, the noise that thing can make is incredible; they sound like a huge freight train that's going by at about 25 mph. u can feel kind of like a rumble off in the distance, and the roar will soon follow if it's coming right at u.

I heard about a man and a woman who could not escape a tornado so they tied themselves to a steel pipe using their leather belts. They survived but their clothes were torn to shreds and then blown away and they were left there naked and bruised after the event. At least they still had their leather belts. This is supposedly a true story.

yeppp......it was terrifing. I had to get into this basement full of rats spiders and lord knows what else

sounded like it was right over my head/
