if a private owner buys a historic home, can you put in forced air?
can it be removed from historic status?

The historic society has a lot of rules. You pretty much have to get approval from them before you do anything. It takes a lot of time and patience.

It varies from city to city
Check with your local building department
some cities don't care as long as you keep the outside original
but I wouldn't try it in Williamsburg
or, if you don't care, just put it in and don't tell anyone
