This is an '06 Dodge Charger. There is an aux outlet and my phone charger works in that, but not in the cig lighter.

Buy a new lighter. The coils in those things go bad all the time. They're cheap.

You could test out your lighter by swapping one from another car (that you know is working) or try using your cell phone charger, car vacuum or other lighter-applicable accessory. If it isn't the recepticle, then it's the lighter itself - which can cost under five dollars at WalMart, a 24 hour store or auto-parts distributor.

If it is the recepticle, you'll probably have to take the vehicle to a shop or dealer to have a new lighter installed.

chances are a new unit is needed but if you want to know for sure check the outlet with a test light, the center tab will be the positive point in the circuit and the metal housing will be the ground
