It is an awesome feeling when you taxi down the runway and the plane picks up speed and you feel it pick up off the grown, the engines with all their might taking you up into the air. It is an experience. Then finally you begin to level off, your aircraft just overcame gravity for you and I don't know how many tons of metal. Get a window seat. You have a bit more elbow room and a view. Sometimes the pilot will tell you what you are flying over. Sometimes you are too high up to see much. Landing it pretty cool too. It is a lot of energy that pilot has to bring to a stop! You'll enjoy the ride.
In-between try to plan on being tired so you can nap. Makes the trip go a bit faster. Don't eat before the trip or drink a lot of water. This way you will not need to get up and use the bathroom for much. Do get up and walk around so your circulation is good. You can have problems flying and remaining in your seat too long. If you are not sure if you get sick, take Dramamine the day a couple days before and the day before and maybe the morning of your flight. You might not need that one if you take one before you go to bed the night before. That is how I do it anyway. But I have found I don't need it.
Take sanitary wipes with you! So if you have to use the restroom you can wipe things off. You can get a small flat package of them in the super market. Safeway carry's them. I suggest you also use Air Borne. This will protect you, hopefully if someone is sick on the plane and germs are floating around.
Dress very comfortable. No belt, no tight pants. The most comfortable shoes you can wear and still be warm. Something you might be able to slip off during flight if it is going to be a long one. If you are taking a lot of luggage already and you are going to check it in and can get away with a very small bag on the plane as a carry on great. They get heavy. Bring something safe to eat. Don't eat their food. Nuts and soda ok. Bacteria really high on planes! Their ice has more bacteria then a public toilet. Oprah show reported that bit of information. Worse then other public eating facilities that were rated higher bacteria then a toilet.
People puke and their not very good about cleaning it up so wipe things off. Are you going to say at a Motel or Hotel at the other end? Be careful. We are having a epidemic of bedbugs in the United States. You can not see them too good but it is a big problem. If you itch after sleeping in your hotel/motel bed it is possible the bed is contaminated. There is only one way for them to get rid of this problem and that is to remove the mattress and fumigate the room and replace the bed. If you look at the sheets at night and there appears to be little tiny red spots, these are the bed bugs. Very difficult to see. It was on the News a couple of weeks ago. They are being brought in from other Country’s, of course, naturally. And most of our Hotels and Motels now days are being operated by foreigners that don’t maintain the same standards we have always had in this Country. Things are going to hell in a hand basket!

First off, it takes awhile from when you are seated to when the plane actually takes off, so you'll be just be sitting around for a half hour or so. This is because a plane has to do checks and wait for its turn on the runway. When the plane is ready for takeoff you'll hear the jet engines spool up and it will get kind of noisy. The plane will start going down the runway faster and faster and it seems bumpy and disconcerting the first time. Then it will suddenly get smooth and that's when you know you've left the ground. As the plane climbs you can feel the pressure changing in your ear and it'll pop a few times. When you're up in the air and flying the plane sways a bit sometimes but not badly. For the most part it's smooth and you can read a book, listen to music, chat with neighbors, sleep, etc. If you're unlucky and hit turbulence it's kind of the same bumpy feeling like you got when taking off from the ground, plus some swaying. Landing feels just like taking off in reverse. I was nervous the first couple times I flew but now it's kind of fun, except that coach class is cramped. If you fly business or first class then it's awesome, you can recline your chair like crazy and just relax.
P.S. Have a sweater ready because at night it can get cold on a plane.

Flying is a great way to travel. Once you get into the air you won't even know you are flying. The take-off and landing can be a little rough, but not bad. They kind of feel like the first part of a roller coaster (the fast beginning and quick stopping at the end). Bring gum to chew during take-off, your ears will pop due to the pressure changes. If you get car or sea sick, take some Dramamine (Anti-Moton sickness medicine). Bring something to read or an I-pod with headphones. Also, if you are on a long flight they might show a movie, but they charge to rent headphones, so bring your own. They usually serve one drink and a bag of peanuts or pretzels (really small bag), so bring some other munchies if you think you'll get hungry. Wear shoes that are easy to take off and put back on (security makes you take them off), put all your change and metal items (that are allowed, check with the airlines for prohibited items) in your carry-on bag so you don't have to remove them in the security search (that will save you a bunch of time). Hope that helps.

Flying on an airplane brings upon you a plethora of feelings. One moment your're nervous(during taxing and take-off), the next your're astounded by watching the earth become more and more distant. Once your're in the air it's pretty much boring unless they have a good onflight movie or if you have provided entertainment of your own. Here comes the nervous part again, landing. The plane begins to see-saw and as you decent your ears begin to pop(if they already haven't). Once the plane's landing gear touches the earth, it gets pretty bouncy and kind of rough. But after that you feel excited, not only that you are somewhere else, but that you have landed safetly and soundly. Your ears should "un-pop" shortly.
Well Have Fun and Enjoy Your First Airplane Ride!

Crowded, uncomfortable, noisy and cold. Nobody really is comfortable in a coach seat [unless you happen to be really short and slim], the bathrooms are so small you have to go outside to change your mind, the aisles so narrow that people are constantly bumping the people seated on the aisle, you have to listen to kids crying, people talking, the bleedover from their headphones, the movies they show are terrible [think of the least interesting most juvenile film currently out to give yourself an idea] and if they do offer food it is tasteless, unhealthy and you have no place to actually eat off of.
The worst part of air travel in my opinion is the outrageous amounts of time you spend getting to the airport and then to the gate.
My last trip to New York I flew there and back because of the distance, flying meant I only had to spend one day each way instead of 4 each way.
But when I decided to go from NYC to Washington DC I took the train. The flight would have been an hour, but I would have wasted another hour getting to the airport and yet another hour to be there an hour for my flight. In addition I would have had to check my luggage which would have added another 45 minutes to an hour each way.
The train trip from NYC to DC was 3hour 20 minutes, I didn't have to check my bags and the seats are much more comfortable. Not to mention you actually get to see some scenery, you can get up and walk around and they actully have semi palatable food for sale.

Oh my god! Its awesome! I actually miss flying, its the most amazing thing looking down upon mountains and rivers. I saw the sunsetting over some greek islands and it was the most beautiful thing i have ever seen. If some1 tells u flying is horrible then dont listen, although its different 4 evry1. Ive never felt sick on a plane, but you can get sore ears with the pressure when landing and taking off. You may have to wait a while in the airport but trust me its well worth the wait. Flying is awesome!!!

Well since you have never flown, the take off and climb may be a little unnerving but it is fine. Chew gum (so your ears don't pop on the climing) once leveled out it is peaceful. Get a good book, take a headset and mp3 or cd player, whatever and just relax and enjoy. Depending on how long, where you're flying and the size of the aircraft you may or MAY NOT experience some turbulence but its just lke a bump in the road in the carLandings are all different, a little bumpy but hey it's the end of the ride. Enjoy and don't stress.

Hi! I would love to help you!! Carry On: A small bag/or piece of luggage allowed onbaord the aircraft. The Dimesions of the bag must be maximum 16 inches high and 24 inches long. Checked: A Bag or piece of luggage(s) that will be put in the cargo hold (At the bottom of the plane). FL (Flight Level): FL, sometimes refered to Flight Level, means the alltitude (look down) of which you are flying at. Ex. FL350= 35,000 Feet Alittitude: The hight at which you are at. TIPS: 1. Be sure to get to the airport at LEASE 2.5 hours early! Security takes a long time. 2. Make sure there are NO LIQUIDS in your carry-on bag except for containers that carry 3oz or less. If you wish to bring liquids on the plane then make sure you bring the liquids ORIGINAL container and put it in a sandwich bag. 3. When traveling, be sure to wear comftrable clothing (this could be easier) 4. When brining checked bags, make sure they are no heaveir than 50 pounds. 5. You may bring: 2 Checked Pieces of Luggage 1 Carryon 1 Personal Item (ie. a purse or small bag) 6. When flying, if your airline doesnt serve food (meals), then buy something at the airport for you to eat, 7. Its good to bring something that will entertain you on the plane. 8. When your at the security checkpoint (the place where they put you through security) be sure to remove your shoes, jewely, cell phones, etc and put it in a scanner. 9. If you dont like flying, then I wouldnt tell you to do this but try to get only a few hours of sleep so you can sleep on the plane. 10. DONT BRING ANY BLANKETS OR PILLOWS. The Airline will give it to you for free. 11. About 30 minutes be fore you land and if the seatbelt sign is of (the small illuminated icon that tells people that they have to bukle their seatbets) make sure you get everything ready for your next flight. 12. Belive that flying is the safest way of travel- and its true! There is a 11 out of 1million+ chance that you will crash and you are far more likely to crash in a car (1 out of 35). Other usefull terms: Connecting Flight: The flight that stops in another airport that gets you to your destination. Baggage Claim: The place where you are able to get your baggs/luggage. ETA: Estimated Time To Arrival Lavitory: Bathroom Galley: Kitchen Turbulence: The bumpy feeling when your on a plane due to weather (wind) Well have a safe trip and good luck!!! Good answer from a 12 year old. huh?

I enjoy it and my 12 year old daughter loves it. She says take offs are better than a carnival ride. (-:
You'll go really fast down the runway and then you'll feel the plane lift off the ground. You'll continue to be at an slight upward angle until the plane reaches it's desired altitude. After that, it can be a little boring unless you can see anything out of the window. Bring a book or magazine. Landings are kind of fun to watch out the window. You circle around and down and you can see the buildings and cars getting closer and closer and then they go in for the landing and after you've stopped they just drive the airplane over to your exit. You'll be fine. (-:
