No it is really lame. gigahertz measure the clock speed of your comuters processor. 1 gig = one million inputs per second can be processes per second/clock cylce.
The more gigs the faster your computer is.
go with at least 3 gigs, that's what I have in my laptop.

It has nothing to do with screen size. It is the speed of your CPU or processor. The faster your processor runs, the faster it can process information and run applications. Back in the old days processors were a lot slower and started at about 33MHz. Technology got better and so did the size and speed of processors. 1000MHz is 1GHz so you can see that things have come along a bit. 1.6GHz is about average for a laptop but a new generation of DUO processor systems are starting to emerge. The processor is the brain of your PC and so every major job is done by it. The new DUO uses 2 processors so it basically means that each one can do seperate work and so the speed of your PC gets faster. Hope this helps.

Ghz means nothing for years now. It's the type of cpu you have. A Intel core2 1.8GHZ stomps the crap out of a Intel P4 3.7GHz cpu. AMD 2GHz cpus that can stomp P4 3.7GHz cpus. It's not the speed of the cpu, it's how many instructions it can to in a cycle. That's way AMD has had the lead for years until the Intel core 2 was released. Goto www.tomshardware.com for benchmarks.

Data is processed in pulses 1.6Ghz is the number of pulses per second. This speed is adequate for browsing the internet and writing documents, for gaming you will be better with something faster 2.4 plus.

It means 1.6 Gigahertz. That means 1.6 billion cycles per second with each cycle being one memory access time.
