Meth is becoming epidemic in America What is the US government doing to prevent and control this problem?

Why are we allowing beverage companies to expand with their energy drinks and continue to enlarge them in size and create new flavors by the day? Its like everywhere someone's promoting a new energy source. I just think this one small example could be a major influence on our youth,highschool students, college and so on. We don't require a boost to survive daily life? Meth is more or less the same thing just a great deal worse. (im not comparing)
I've just been trying to understand how the drug works and how the victims whos lives are ripped to shreds are treated as criminals when the law catches up with them. labeled with a permanent scar and constant judgment from a mistake nothing more. (users not dealers) Why has nothing been done different with meth compared to other drugs and the consequences that follow?? Or am I completely wrong im scared to use for knowledge one friend of mine took that path to try and save an old friend, overdosed 6 months after he told me he quit

Frontline, the excellent PBS documentary show, has produced a comprehensive special on the meth epidemic sweeping this country and what created and fed it and how the government deliberately put the issue on the back burner because of the strong drug lobby...I am posting the video link to it with this answer...you will need DSL or cable to watch it as it is an hour long...very interesting show and you will have the definitive answer to your question after viewing....good luck to you...stay away from meth!!!

There is no such thing as a "recreational meth user".

Either a person doesn't use it at all, or they are an all-out junkie.

The drug takes over their lives, they can't hold a job, yet they need money to buy the drug - so they become thieves.

As you work your way up the food chain of dealers and cookers, eventually you get to the people who have a lot of paranoia, a lot of money, and GUNS.

Personally I feel that there is nothing the government can do that is too harsh on these maggots.

it's a problem because it's unmanaged. we used to be able to get it by rx from our doctor when needed, and we didn't have an epidemic like we do now.

the meth "epidemic" is completely controlled and created by the govt. they needed an issue - so by making the safe managed (managed by doctor) drug illegal - they created an epidemic.

people now have resorted to illegal activity to obtain... manufactured by crazy dangerous ingredients....
dealt by crazy dangerous criminals...
and completely unmanaged by the users.

= chaos.
