a true friend is someone who would lay down their life for you, one that would stick closer than a brother/sister, one that you can talk to without having to feel like you have to walk around on egg shells, someone who doesn't ask for you to do things to be their friend, someone who doesn't lie to you, or talk about you behind your back, because they love you.

As I understand it, your question is what is a true friend.
You can totally be yourself with a true friend....you can share your thoughts and feelings with them and they won't tell them to someone else.....you can be up or down and they will be there for you.....you enjoy spending time with them, and they enjoy being with you....you probably share some of the same interests....and you are willing to be there for that friend when he or she needs you, and they will do the same for you. You can depend on that person and trust them. And if you were away from that person for a long period of time, when you saw each other you would just pick up where you left off!

Someone who will stay by your side when you are crying. They will make sacrifices. SOmeone who will walk in when others walk out. Someone who is loyal and will not leave your side when you're in trouble. They will stand by your side and put you b4 them. They will still be your friend when other people hate you. They will stick with you even though people think you're weird. And they dont care if people think you're weird too. Someone who will never turn on you,
That's what I think a friend is. And probably lots more but i cant really think of them right now,

Simple: A friend is someone who you can count on. Someone you know has your back. Maybe not in every situation, but in any situation you ask for them to help with. There are friends you would ask for a ride somewhere, and others you wouldn't bother. There are friends you ask to be a wing man and others you wouldn't. A Best friend is the person you can rely on in ANY situation.

A person who's a friend to me is just someone who I can count on to be there whatever the problem maybe, and is completely honest with me. A true friend will tell you when your doing something wrong, and in so many words will tell you that your completely full of crap.

A friend is someone you call to help you move.
A real friend will help you move dead bodies.
A friend will bail you out of jail.
A real friend can't, as he is in the cell with you.
Seriously, I consider a friend someone I would want to help if they needed me. Not someone I felt obligated to help. It is a sort of reversal on the "friend in need" theme. If someone in need is still a friend, they are a real friend.
You will find the older you get, the fewer friends you have. The ones you choose to keep are really friends though.

A friend to me is someone that I can count one, rain or shine. Night or day, for anything. They'd be able to talk and hear me out, never judging me. Honest and trustworthy. Never two faced or back stabbing. Open minded and has a positive attitude.

Here is my working definition of a friend, which may or may not be yours:
Someone I can trust to tell me the truth (even when it's not necessarily what I want to hear);
Someone I can trust to keep his/her word (that includes keeping confidences);
Someone who treats me with respect.
