Taking her to a vet is a great idea. Nothing should be sticking out, whether she's in heat or not. Black labs are notorious for getting cancer at a young age, so the sooner she gets to the vet, the better.

Hopefully when you have a tumor sticking out of your butt your family won't have the same attitude.

Take her to a vet. She's been a great companion for 10 years (I know because I have a black Lab). Whatever the vet advises DO IT.

thats so sad to hear that but you should go some where that close by to you like a market or a gas station and look for a phone book if they do have one then just look up some yellow pages see if there are some vet centers in youre area or in the town you moved to and call them . or you can find a nice person and ask her or him if they know any animals hositpal or pet vet that they know where you can take youre dog to .

Did she have that all the time? If so she's fine, otherwise look for a vet in the phone book or on the Internet.

It may be benign and again it could be malignant. If you know of a teaching vet hospital in your area, you might try there for starters until you find out who's good and who's not a good vet.

10 years is getting old for a lab. Black Labs are notorious for fatty-tissue, benign cysts. Mine is 13 years old and she has several lumps on her belly. But, you REALLY need to find a veterinarian and have them take a look at your dog. After 10 years, you owe her that.

If its not causing her any pain, any distress, or keeping her from doing anything then leave it there. It's not hurting anybody. My dog had the same thing on its head. It wasn't bothering her, but we got it froze off, because it kept annoying us. You can look in your local yellow pages for a Vet if you wanted it froze off.
