I went to high school and college in the 1980's. Condoms were use to prevent against AIDS. Birth control to prevent pregnant.
They probable had other ways.

In the early early years of egypt there used to be a herb that prevented pregnancy, but this worked so well that the herb is now extinct (History of Sex on the History Channel), after that they used fine sheep skin or something like that...all I can say is OUCH!

There have been sheep-intestine condoms since the 1700 or earlier. Since civil war days and before, women have used sea sponges soaked with lemon juice or vinegar.

The "trusty belly method." When done correctly it is virtually at the same rate as condoms for preventing pregnancy.

I think some used the pull N pray, while some went with the spank N thank. But still others used Sheep.

The oldest condoms were formed with sheep-skin. They actually still sell them. Not sure when they came out, but it was pretty early on in time.

There used to be condoms made of lambskin....I know, gross! Or the rhythm method (not having sex during ovulation times) although that doesnt really work.

Abstinence! j/k. They used things very similar to condoms today, such as condoms made out of animal skin and intestines. Kinda gross...

Nothing besides abstinence. Why do you think people had 8,10, 14 kids back then? My mother-in-law has 12 brothers and sisters.....13 kids...could you EVER imagine?
