Fracture of Leg!?

Question

My hubby has got a 2 inch crack(fracture ) in his left leg can anyone tell me what hospital procedure is following a fracture and how long roughly they take to heal.He is in plaster at the moment (since 18/01/2007) and is due to go back on Monday to the hospital.

I'd say he'll be out of commission for about 6-8 weeks. He needs the time to heal. He might also need some physical therapy after because the muscles in that leg may atrophy and get weak. Make sure he eats lots of protein to help the leg heal faster. Don't do too much because that will delay the healing too. Ask the doctor on Monday. This is just my educated guess. I'm a nurse.

Most breaks are cosidered healed in 6 to 8 weeks, this, of course varies depending on the nature of the break, your bodies ability to heal itself, etc. Sorry no definite answer, when I was 14 I broke my right Femur, clean break, heavy bone. I was in traction for a couple of months before I even got a cast. I don't want to upset or stress you but some things simply take time, and this is one of them.

Depending on the break, around 6-8 weeks. But he really needs to ask the doctor. They have to determine it by the xrays and how it looks Monday.

when you go back on Monday ask the doctor the recovery time. I heal slow, so it always takes me longer, The doctor will give you an estement and then if he heals slow it will be a week or two longer

Fractures suck but they heal within a month or too. good luck with your hubby and hope the fracture heals and isnt too painful

well they put his leg in cast...he gets pain pills...it normally takes about 6-8 weeks for it to heal. put then it may be sore still for a few months after wards.....he will be on crutches too all that time.
