Rape is rape. Period. Whomever suffers through it is a victim and should report it asap.

I think that it is different but that both are traumatic and here's the thing to consider if the person is going to go on raping and you could save someone else from the experience... then I think maybe there is an obligation to do something. On the other hand, if it is something like rape by a woman which is usually an inappropriate seduction, molestation of a person under age and so on I would get some kind of counseling. For sure in the case of insest. I don't know of any cases of rape by a woman of a man... I mean, an adult male. I guess a case could be made if the man in question was drunk and it was known to the woman that he was an unwilling partner. Otherwise, I think pretty much the same if a man is of age and is forced to have sex with another man that is an attack, isn't it? So I think that I would. You know, it is really hard to say... i think it is about the same as for either sex.

Despite the jerk answers, it's a good question.

Rape is rape, including in prison. As far as reporting it, I think it would be as hard for men as it is for women, but maybe not for the same reasons. Or maybe for the same reasons: having to talk about it and be examined is like an additional assault, only more drawn out. Everyone involved HAS to be 100% supportive. But in court, it's open season on you and you have no privacy.

Richard Crenna was in a TV movie a few years ago as a police detective in the Vice section. He was a smart-*** jerk dealing with women rape victims, until he was gang raped by some cyclists on his way home one night. Big turn around after he went through the same humiliation the women had. It took him a long time to report it. Pretty realistic.

BTW, women can rape, too.

i can see how it would be extremely humiliating for a man, but then just because a women may usually have sex with men doesn't mean its not humiliating and horrible when she is raped, rape is usually an act of extreme violence so its not just the unwanted sex that is the problem, and that is what often leaves the victim so traumatised.
so depending on individuals i would say the effects of rape on men and women are probably very similar, but men may find it harder to report rape in fear of people thinking he's gay. but many women have trouble reporting it too for their own reasons.
rape is rape and no matter who its done to it will have devastating effects

Rape is rape any way you look at it. And if I were a male, I would report it because it's still a crime. You don't normally hear of men being raped and I'm guessing it's the fear of being persecuted but to me, people need to be made aware that rape doesn't only happen to women but to men too.

It is just as painful and degrading for either sex to have this happen and if i was in that position,i would def report it. Nobody should ever have to suffer something as bad as that and the people who commit these acts shouldn't be allowed to get away with it. If this has happened to you, then please report it. I understand it'll be an extremely difficult and very upsetting experience for you but they need to be reported so they can be stopped before they have the chance to do it somebody else. I hope you find the courage you need to do this,i also hope you somehow manage to find a way through this most distressing time and come out a stronger person for it. My thoughts and best wishes are with you.

This is going to sound odd but it would depend on the situation. If it was an attack by one or more persons, yes. If it was date rape, I'd have to consider if I perhaps provoked or led the person on. I'm NOT saying I "asked for it" but sometimes if we've had a bit too much to drink or are caught up in a "moment" we say and do things that can result in undesirable behavior. I hope that makes sense.

It's the same no matter if you're male or female. And no, I wouldn't report it. One of my fantasies is to gang raped by no less than 4 guys.

You have to report it at the time of the rape - for DNA evidence. Rape is rape and it should be treated the same - male or female

I wouldn't report it for my own sake. I'd see it as the way of protecting myself from any reminders. I think it is worse for men to be raped by men.

Yes I would report it to the police. I am sure I woudl be just as scared as any woman in the same situtation and also I would think that if I did not reprot it there would be other victims!
