Ex: Nancy Pelosi wants to redistrubite everyones welth except for hers? Nancy owns a vineyard worth approx: 25 million dollars. This woman wears 6,000 dollar necklaces, italian made shoes, and Armini suits and this woman tell me I need to be taxed because I make over 250000 per year. Take that back now it is 500000 per year. Typical democrat pandering to the so called middle class victims for the most votes. When she plans on standing at the front of the line to give away her wealth I will do the same.

I have no idea. I've tried to figure it out, but it makes no sense. I once, for a fleeting second when I was a teenager, thought about doing nothing so I could live off of everyone else, but then I realized how lazy and pathetic an existence like that must be.

What I don't quite understand is what they think the people who refuse to work hard to make a lot of money will do if they get it. Do they actually believe these people will invest this money for the future? I think not.

I am no expert, but I do tend to lean to the left on social issues, and right on my personal moral code. I do believe that top end executives make much more than they should. And I also believe that low end grunt workers make much less than they should. I don't know about redistributing the wealth, but I do believe there should be a gradual change in the way that wealth is distributed. I am not so much concerned about the feelings of the poor people, so much as I am concerned about the future of our communities. Eventually I would like to raise children in an environment where people aren't resorting to criminal activities or violence just to get to the next day. I would also feel more comfortable owning a home knowing that there is not a horde of poor people within a few miles ready to rob me or burn my home down. I am comfortable paying more taxes, but I would like to have the option to choose where my tax dollars are allocated. I would put a large chunk into improving the conditions of my local school system to ensure people are getting a decent education. But I don't want to encourage laziness by giving people something for nothing. If people want a piece of the wealth, they have to work for it. I will not support a drug addicts habits, or an unloving mother popping out babies like a PEZ dispenser. There is no simple solution of course, but the CEO of Disney doesn't deserve 25 million a year, nobody does. If it were up to me, minimum wage would be $10 an hour, I would have no problem within my labor matrix to cover my employees' wages. Heck, they might even be better employees. But it shouldn't be people like you or me that cover that, not all of it at least. I'm sure instead of making 25 million, Joe CEO, could make maybe 20 million. Anyway, I hope this gives you a little insight on the perception of left leaning democrats. And remember we're all in this together. Don't get caught up in the red team/blue team Gangstamerica mentality. Peace to ya, Cyclebreaker

Okay, just a couple of things.

To answer your question directly:
Because that's part of the definition of left leaning democrats. Extreme liberals want to help the poor by sharing the wealth that the rich have.

Before you let it piss you off too much, ask yourself these questions: How do you know that Nancy Pelosi hasn't already given away half of her earnings? Also, how do her charitable contributions compare to those of a Republican, earning the same amount of money?

What a load of BS. We all have to pay taxes under the same system, so how is she a hypocrit?
BTW The reason there is a progressive tax system in place, is because money gravitates toward the top. Problem is that the averave working person paid MORE in taxes than the ave wealthy person!

Yep...the answer above mine...the Flat Tax and make sure rich folks actually pay their 15% and we'll all be contributing at the same % of our income and can all look each other in the eye and know we're contributing the same to making this a great country.

uh... she's not magically immune to taxes, last time I checked... so she has to pay the same taxes she passes, just like you do? so in a sense... she is standing at the front of the line, since she is wealthy and she passes taxes for the wealthy?

it's like you're proving my point for me?

so... what exactly are you crying about? that you may have to give 2 more percent of daddy's fortune away and you may not be able to get this year's new Ferrari?

and the top 50 percent have about 99 percent of the U.S. disposable income...

I'm sick and tired of these people who say the "rich" don't pay their fair share. The top 50% of incomes pay over 96% of ALL income taxes. Take a look at the link. These numbers don't lie.

BTW, it's an Excel spreadsheet so you'll need Excel to open.

The democrats are not redistributing other rich people's money, they believe that they should pay their fair share of taxes. most of our parents or even us, pay more percentages of taxes than the rich people. the democrats just want to eliminate the tax break that Bush gave them and returned it to it once was during Clinton's administration.

It would be easier to swallow the income redistribution debate if not for the hypocrisy of the people who support it. It is always the rich people who did not have to work for their money who are always so willing to give away the money and property of those who work for theirs.

Corporations re-distribute the wealth that the employees produce. Only wimps believe the rich create our jobs.
