Hi, I'm 35 weeks pregnant and when i went to my last visit my dr said i was 50% effaced and a little over a centimeter dilated, does this mean im any closer to having my baby or could i still go full term?

You could still go full-term. I was at 2 cm for about 4 weeks before I went into labor. Every woman is different. It may be that your body is gearing up really slowly for the big event. You could also go into labor at any time. If you start to have consistent contractions, then you know it's time. :)
