One word.

Freedom.

Defeating the British in the Revolutionary War was a feat that was thought impossible by most. The British had an extreemly large, and increadibly far more experienced military. Cornwallis was concidered a genious of military tactics due to his experience.

An army of rebel farmers.
That's what we were.
What could young men with pitchforks possibly do to military veterans?

A hell of a lot.

People like George Washington, Francis Marion, Lafayette, and countless others led our nation in the war for one of the most important things in the world: freedom.

No matter the size of an army, the power of a country, or the determination of a king...

Nothing, and No one, can ever bind the dream that is Freedom.

Well after the Battle of Yorktown (Virginia!), the British surrendered and played "The World Turned Upside Down." I'm sure they then had tea somewhere. Then came the Treaty of Paris in 1783 whereby the British recognized American independence. But the British didn't stop harassing the Americans till after the war of 1812.

What happened after the revolution was the colonies tried to figure out what kind of government they were going to have. This took 6 years. 1789 the Constitution was written. Also though, and maybe few know this, the Americans began to export the revolution (sound familiar). Do you think Benjamin Franklin was American Ambassador to France for nothing? 1789 also marked the beginning of the French Revolution. Sure, they probably already had revolutionaries in French society, but let's just say that the way the Americans paid back the French monarchy for their support against the British was to inspire others to overthrow all despots. No, I'm not saying the American influence was THE cause of the French Revolution. That would be preposterous. But what I am saying is that it was A cause.
