Oh Ive done this. Set an iron on the low setting. Use a paper towel folded twice. Place the paper towel over the wax and iron it. If the irons low setting is to low to reheat the wax go up one setting. If you use a towel you'll have wax on the towel too with a paper towel you just toss it. Ive done this several times and it has worked great.

Try putting ice on it to freeze the wax and then it should pull right off. Depending on the color of the wax and the carpet it might leave a stain though.

take a brown paper bag from the grocery store and an iron on lowest heat setting. put the bag over the wax and let the iron sit for a few minutes. then just keep going over it and over it and it will make the wax soft enough for you to remove it. the wax sort of seeps into the brown bag. it is really neat.

Plain old brown paper bag and an iron will do. Just like most people said, just put the bag down and iron away. Just make sure your iron is on low and keep checking and replacing the bag as needed. This will do the trick!

I think if you heat the area up like with an iron on brown paper, then wipe, then iron again until all was gone you might get the job done.
